Zama

The term “Zama” does not refer to a single material, but rather to a family of zinc-based alloys with high zinc content, combined with small amounts of aluminum, magnesium, and copper. Their excellent castability and hardness comparable to many cast irons and brasses make zinc alloys suitable for producing sound and complex castings.

The European standard EN 12844 (European Standard For Zinc Alloy Castings) specifies four alloys suitable for die casting with a hot-chamber process; however, the most commonly used are ZP3 and ZP5.

Zama die casting is applied in a wide range of sectors thanks to its exceptional mechanical properties and ease of shaping into complex forms. Some of the main industries where it is used include:
• Automotive: components, air conditioning, seat belts, locks, pumps, dashboard instruments, lighting, brakes, and more.
• Construction: hinges, handles, switch plates, taps, plates, window mechanisms, fittings, lighting, and more.
• Clothing and Accessories: clothing decorations, belt buckles, shoes, buttons, costume jewelry, zippers, and more.
• Electronics: electrical devices, electronic equipment.
• Others: toys, ornaments, sports accessories, nautical accessories, hardware, small household accessories, appliance accessories, and tools.
